Press Release September 4, 2007
The California City Optimist Club is very pleased by the response of the public to their new computer program for schools. Chuck Flores, the instigator of the good deed, was so busy picking up donated computers during Labor Day weekend, that he only had time to clean, check, reprogram and install four units at the California City Elementary School.
Chuck Flores doing a final check! The four units to the left are ready!
Chuck, who’s real job is Parks and Recs maintenance Manager, joined the Optimist Club in this endeavor because, having kids of his own, he is a firm believer in teaching children about their future with the tools they will have to use in the future! Even with a pretty good size load of units to set up, Chuck encourages any donation and is willing to repair computers as needed in the hope that one day all the classrooms will have enough machines to accommodate all the students. Chuck Flores and the Optimist Club would like to thank everyone who donated and everyone who spread the good word about this Program. You can reach Chuck at 760-670-0984. or mcvdad@hotmail.com
The California City Optimists are also responsible for the temporary awning and tables and benches at the Elementary School, so students can have recesses and lunches in the shade.
In the meantime, we are exploring the possibility of a group or enterprise to lend a hand and hopefully donate the funds needed to buy a similar awning. Ed can be reached for donation or help in any form, at edwaldheim@aol.com
